Deep Foundations

Northwest Arkansas Soils
Due to the prevalence of clay soils in the Northwest Arkansas area in many cases it is necessary to build utilizing deep foundations. Whether you prefer Concrete Piers, Steel Helical Piers, or Grouted Micro Piles, Foundation Specialties can make sure that your foundation is on solid ground.

Steel Helical Piers
The Steel Helical Pier Assembly is a steel piling with a specific design diameter helix (screw / auger) located at the bottom of the piling. Utilizing hydraulic gear motors Foundation Specialties is able to drive (torque) these Steel Helical Pier Assemblies through soil with low bearing capacity and anchor your foundation on load bearing strata.

Once the pier is anchored into load bearing strata the reinforced concrete footing is then formed around and rests atop the Steel Helical Pier.

Micro Piles
A Micro Pile is a small diameter, drilled and grouted reinforced replacement pile. It is constructed by drilling a borehole, placing reinforcement, and grouting the hole. Micro Piles can withstand axial and/or lateral loads and may be considered a substitute for conventional piles or as one component in a composite soil/pile mass, depending upon the design concept employed.

Micro Piles were originally conceived in the early 1950's in response to the demand for innovative techniques for underpinning historic buildings and monuments within Italy. They have been utilized in the U.S. on a limited basis since the early 1970s but have increased in popularity beginning in the Mid 1980s.

Micro Pile applications include structural support for new and existing foundations, earth retention, & soil stabilization.

Concrete Piers
As concrete contractors, Foundation Specialties has had a lot of experience constructing deep foundations. We can also construct larger diameter poured reinforced concrete support piers.
Whatever the design, if troublesome soils are present Foundation Specialties has a solution to put your structure on a solid foundation.
